St. Aloysius blanks Central Hinds 4-0 and improves to 2-0 in district play
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — St. Aloysius High School’s girls soccer team remained unbeaten in district competition Wednesday night with a 4-0 victory over Central Hinds Academy.
The Lady Flashes improved to 2-0 in district play behind a strong offensive showing led by Frances Farrell, who scored twice. Farrell found the net once in the first half and added another in the second, with both goals assisted by Mary Ruth Montgomery.
Senior Mallory Hobson opened the scoring with her first goal of the season to give St. Aloysius an early advantage.
Despite creating multiple scoring opportunities throughout the match, the Lady Flashes were unable to convert on several chances in front of goal.
Montgomery continued to play a key role late in the match, setting up Lynlee McMillin for the team’s fourth goal just before the final whistle. The assist marked Montgomery’s third of the night.
Defensively, St. Aloysius was just as dominant. Goalkeeper Sara Smith recorded the shutout, finishing with two saves as the Lady Flashes’ defense limited Central Hinds to minimal scoring opportunities.
St. Aloysius will return to action Monday at home in a district rematch against ACCS, a team the Lady Flashes previously defeated in a penalty kick shootout.
