Vicksburg Fire investigator confirms Longview Drive fire intentionally started

Blaze engulfs Longview home for second time

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Yesterday morning’s fire at 601 Longview Drive has been determined to have been started intentionally, according to Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps.

“Nathaniel Williams, fire investigator with the Vicksburg Fire Department, led an in-depth investigation into the blaze that engulfed the residence at 601 Longview St. Joined by members of the State Fire Marshal’s Office, they meticulously examined the scene and gathered evidence,” said Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps. “Their findings revealed that the fire was intentionally started.”

The home which originally caught fire on Thanksgiving morning, 2024, was currently being renovated according to Stamps in a statement made yesterday.

“If credible evidence clearly identifies the perpetrator, we will take appropriate action,” said Stamps.

No arrests have been made at this time.
