Missy Gators opened district play with a 22-0 win over Columbus

Vicksburg High softball team opened district play with 22-0 win over Columbus on Saturday.

“The girls did really good today,” Head Coach Briana Know said.“We stayed down, we hit the ball well but I told them that this is not it and we still got more wins to get this year.”

After a double by Trinity McGloster, hits from Harmony Harris and Lili Kistler along with multiple steals, the Missy Gators went up 7-0 at the end of the first inning. Jamia Grace, McGloster and Avery VanNorman all hit doubles in the second while Harris, Jordan Powell and MaKynzie Dunmore all racked up hits to put VHS up 22-0 in the second inning.

Kistler only allowed one hit as she struck out five batters. VanNorman(4 RBIs) and Jordan Powell(2 RBIs) both went 2 for 2 at the plate. McGloster went 2 for 3 while Kisler and Harris both had one hit.

MaKynzie Dunmore, JaMia Grace and McGloster each had three runs and Zion Harvey finished with two.

The Missy Gators will host Neshoba Central on Monday.
