WC defeated Hartfield 14-10 on Saturday

Warren Central High School baseball team secured a 14-10 win over Hartfield Academy.

The Vikings picked up six runs after Ryan Nelson and Brooks Willoughby both hit doubles while Conner Watkins hit a single. WC also profited from a couple of walks as well.

The Hawks scored two runs in the second inning but the Vikings responded with RBIs from Maddox Lynch and Cole Autrey to go up 9-2. HA found themselves back in the game when they began to hit the ball in the third inning as they racked up six runs to put the score at 9-8. Lynch’s single left WC ahead 10-8 heading into fourth.

By the fifth inning, WC regained focus as Hayes Loper hit a double while Cade Fairley and Lester Martin both brought in singles to give WC the 13-9 lead. Autrey sealed things with a home run in the sixth as the Vikings took home the win.

Fairley went 3 for 5 with one RBI while Lynch(2 RBIs) and Loper both had two hits. Autrey(3 RBIs), Martin(2 RBI),Watkins(1 RBI), Nelson and Willoughby(2 RBIs) all had one hit.

Nathaniel Moore came in and pitched three innings where he struck out one batter. Willoughby struck out three while Fairley and Lynch both struck out one.

WC will host Pearl on Tuesday.
