VICKSBURG, Miss. – Vicksburg Police Chief Penny Jones addressed the claims of a male approaching women and young girls at Walmart and other locations in a statement on the Vicksburg Police Department’s Facebook page yesterday.
“On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, the Vicksburg Police Department was notified of incidents involving a male who had approached women and young girls at Walmart, inquiring about dating. On multiple occasions, he was described as assertive in his advances, causing discomfort.
Our officers swiftly identified the individual and contacted him. He voluntarily came to the Vicksburg Police Department for questioning. During this interview, he was advised that such behavior and unwanted advances are unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

Additionally, we are aware of questions about a separate incident involving a female arrested at Walmart for disruptive behavior in the restrooms. That situation was unrelated and involved an individual experiencing a mental health crisis due to being off her medication.
