Trolley Ribbon Cutting

Vicksburg is set to introduce its brand-new trolley to the public with an official ribbon-cutting event scheduled for Oct. 17 at 11 a.m..

Earlier in August, Visit Vicksburg’s Executive Director, Laura Beth Strickland, presented the trolley’s associated rules before the Board of Mayor and Alderman, securing their approval.

The trolley has a seating capacity for 24 passengers, and notably includes provisions for two handicap-accessible seats. A distinguishing feature of this new transport facility is its availability for public rental, setting it apart from the city’s bus, which is designated for specific city-related activities.

Laura Beth Strickland emphasized the potential applications for the trolley, stating, “We’ll be able to rent it out for weddings, and reunions and different things like that.”

However, Strickland also pointed out some operational constraints during the BOMA in August: The trolley is limited to areas within a 25-mile radius of Vicksburg.

For those interested in renting the trolley, rental requests need to be submitted in writing by reaching out to the Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau (VCVB) via email at trolley@visitvicksburg.com.
