VICKSBURG, Miss. – A baby girl was delivered yesterday with help over the phone by Vicksburg-Warren 911 supervisor Hannah Williams.

Williams answered a call yesterday and was informed that a pregnant woman was not only in labor, but the baby was coming “right now.”

While Williams dispatched the ambulance, she was able to guide a friend of the expectant mother to help with delivering the baby.

Not long after the Vicksburg Fire Department arrived, the mother welcomed a 6 lb 9 oz baby girl named Kennedi Armoni Butler. The baby was delivered en route to the hospital by Firefighter/Medic Kristin Blackledge.

“Firefighter/Medic Kristin Blackledge, just a week away from graduating from the In-house Firefighter course, demonstrated her extraordinary skills by delivering Baby Green en route to Merit Health Labor and Delivery. With nearly three years of dedication at VFD, Kristin exemplifies the impact of commitment and courage in the face of challenges,” said Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps.

After Williams shift was over at the Vicksburg-Warren 911 Call Center, she was able to visit both the mother and baby at the hospital.
