Vicksburg Warren School District Holds Monthly Board Meeting, Honors Late Teachers

The Vicksburg Warren School District held its monthly board meeting on Thursday and honored educators who have passed.
Most of the meeting’s discussions centered on the school district’s various financial opportunities. One of these financial discussions focused on the opening of bids for independent lawn care companies to provide services to the entire school district throughout the year. The request stated that the bid would be awarded to only one lawn care company.
Towards the end of the meeting, there was a special segment honoring the lives of teachers and staff members who passed away in March.
The teachers recognized were Judy Williams and Gwendolyn Franklin.
Family members of each late teacher were present at the meeting to celebrate the life and legacy each left on the many students who were under their tutelage.
The board also recognized Eugene Johnson Sr., a Vicksburg Warren School District bus driver who served the district for 42 years. Upon receiving the recognition, the loved ones of Johnson stated they were “thankful” to the school board for commemorating Johnson’s work in a resolution.
