Vicksburg’s Kierra James Commits to Southeast Arkansas Community College

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg native Kierra James has committed to continue her basketball career at Southeast Arkansas Community College. The former Vicksburg High School standout confirmed her decision Sunday to the Vicksburg Daily News, as she prepares to continue both her academic and athletic journey across state lines.
James, a 2024 graduate of Vicksburg High School, spent her freshman 2024–25 season at Mississippi Delta Community College, where she played under Head Coach Tangela Banks. During her freshman campaign, she contributed to a successful season for the Lady Trojans, who finished with a 21-7 record and advanced to the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament.
Prior to her time at MDCC, James made a name for herself at Vicksburg High, playing under Head Coach Troy Stewart. As a senior, she averaged 13 points per game and was a key contributor to the Missy Gators’ success. One of her most memorable performances came during her junior season in 2023, when she scored 20 points in a district championship victory over Callaway, helping Vicksburg capture its fourth district title.
That same year, James earned All-County and All-District honors for her standout play and leadership on the court.
James’ move to Southeast Arkansas Community College marks the next chapter in her career, as she looks to build on her strong foundation and continue developing as a student-athlete.
“I’m excited for the opportunity and grateful for everyone who has supported me,” James said.
She will join the program later this summer in preparation for the 2025–26 season.
