Vicksburg’s Malik Montgomery commits to Mississippi Valley State

Vicksburg High School football player Malik Montgomery has committed to playing at Mississippi Valley State University.

Montgomery, a senior running back, made the announcement over social media on Friday.

Montgomery had a breakout season as a junior in 2022 where he led the Gators to the third round of the playoffs and rushed for 1,141 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was also the All-District 5A Region 2 Offensive Player of the Year.

Montgomery suffered an injury in 2023 and played only half the season but still finished with 465 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
