City Response
The City of Vicksburg has yet to release a statement on the shots fired at LD’s. Historically this administration has a meeting with the location and sets up a Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement targets improved security and action steps for the business to reduce violent incidents.
That process has been applied sometimes to locally owned businesses but has not gone after all shooting incidents. Shootings with injuries at What-a-Burger and one in the parking lot of Key City have not led to mandates from City Administration to improve security. Similar shootings in parking lots have led the city to force business owners to sign Memorandums of Understanding.
Jacque’s was shut down after the city declared them a public nuisance. After Jacques sued the city, Sunflower Judge Debra M. Giles ruled Jacque’s could reopen. Since that time Jacques closed and is currently involved in a legal battle with the city for damages.
