VJHS girls’ basketball team defeated WCJHS on Wednesday

Vicksburg, Miss.-Vicksburg Junior High School girls’ basketball team defeated Warren Central on Wednesday. Both the 7th and eighth-grade teams came out victorious.

7th:

The Missy Gators won 18-6 where Brooklin Shelton, Ke’Mya Wilson, Payton Williams and Labria Rouson all scored four points each. Erien Hall also scored two points for VJHS. Kiley Poole, Sicily Smith, and Traveonna Payne all scored two points each for WCJHS.

8th:

A close first quarter eventually turned into a huge victory for the Missy Gators as they took down the Lady Vikes 35-7 last night. The game was tight in the first quarter as the Missy Gators led 6-3. Free throws from Madisyn Kimble along with a couple of shots by Aaliyah Mims put VJHS up 17-3 at halftime.

By the time the second half began, the Missy Gators quickly put the game away as Kimble led with 12 points. Alaina Williams also scored in double digits with 10 points while Mims added eight on the board. Keasia Hatchett scored four points and Kerion Cooper hit a free throw. 

Joinei Lane hit a 3-pointer for WCJHS while Da’Maryia Cosby and Torreigh Lewis both scored two points.

The Missy Gators will travel to Germantown on Thursday and the Lady Vikes will travel to Madison Middle School.
