VPD announce capture of aggravated domestic shooting suspect

The Vicksburg Police Department announced Derrick Markeith Williams Jr. is in custody. Williams was wanted for an aggravated domestic shooting that occured on Sunday.

On Sunday afternoon, authorities were alerted to a shooting incident at the intersection of Grove and Walnut Street. Early reports indicated woman was hit twice in the lower abdomen and once in the leg.

A male assailant, Identified as Williams, Jr., reportedly fled on foot in the direction of the waterfront after the attack.

The injuries sustained by the woman led to AirCare being called to transport her to a hospital in the Jackson area.

On Monday,  the Vicksburg Police Department officially identified Williams as the suspect invovled and took to social media to ask for public assistance in helping to locate him. On Wednesday the Vicksburg Police Department announced that Williams was in custody.
