Woman shot three times in downtown Vicksburg

One person has been shot in downtown Vicksburg on Sunday afternoon.

Dispatch received a call at around 1:15 p.m., indicating that a female was shot. Later radio traffic stated she was shot twice in the lower abdomen and once in the leg. The shooter is a male who took off on foot towards the waterfront.

The Vicksburg Police Department arrived in force to secure the scene and search for the suspect.

AirCare has been called in to transport the victim to a Jackson area hospital. It is believed that the victim is from out of town due to her license plates. Her condition remains unknown at this time.
