Walmart invested millions in store upgrades, Vicksburg included

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Walmart unveiled details on Wednesday of the chains plan to remodel 16 stores across Mississippi this year, part of a broader effort to enhance the customer experience, invest in employees and strengthen ties to local communities.
Stores scheduled for remodeling include Vicksburg, which has already begun.
The remodeling plans are part of a national initiative to update more than 650 Walmart stores in 2025. The company said it has already invested $284 million in Mississippi store upgrades over the past five years.
“Our stores often serve as the heartbeat of the communities we operate in, and these remodels are a testament to our dedication to enhancing that role,” said Nick Berkeley, Walmart senior vice president for the Southeast Business Unit. “By investing in our stores and associates, we are not only improving the shopping experience but also reinforcing our commitment to being a vital part of the community’s fabric.”
The updated stores will feature expanded departments, new signage, additional product selections, improved pickup and delivery services, and redesigned pharmacies with wider aisles and private consultation areas.

- More Selection: Expanded departments. New items. More of what customers are looking for.
- Expanding Online Pickup & Delivery: To fulfill the growing number of online customer orders.
- Rethinking Our Pharmacy: Wider aisles. New private screening room. Privacy checkout areas.
