Warren Central brings home two state swimming titles from Tupelo

TUPELO, Miss. (VDN) — Warren Central High School’s swim team made history Saturday at the MHSAA Class II State Championship in Tupelo, winning both the boys’ and girls’ championship.

Team Highlights

  • Warren Central won six events, had 19 top-four finishes, and swept the boys’ and girls’ state titles.
  • Class II includes schools that compete in Class 6A in other sports.

Girls’ Results — Co-State Champions (with West Jones, 91 points each)

  • 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (1st, 4:08.10)
    • Kara Rowe, Addison Billings, Avery Greer, Ella Opperman
    • Finished 11 seconds ahead of West Jones to clinch the co-championship.
  • 200 Yard Medley Relay (1st, 2:04.69)
    • Avery Greer, Addison Billings, Kara Rowe, Sicily Smith
  • 200 Yard Freestyle
    • 1st – Avery Greer (2:05.53)
    • 3rd – Addison Billings (2:13.57)
    • 4th – Ella Opperman (2:21.36)
  • 100 Yard Backstroke
    • 2nd – Avery Greer
    • 3rd – Kara Rowe
  • 100 Yard Freestyle
    • 4th – Sicily Smith
  • 500 Yard Freestyle
