VICKSBURG, Miss. – Students at Warren Central Jr. High partnered with the Vicksburg Fire Department throughout December to collect toys for underprivileged children in the community.

“Mr. Nicholas Dotson, the dedicated Principal of WCJHS, has inspired his students to participate in a heartwarming initiative. He encouraged them to gather and donate gifts for the Vicksburg Fire Department, which will distribute these thoughtful donations to children throughout the community,” said Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps. “This generous act not only brightens the holiday season for local kids but also fosters a sense of compassion and teamwork among the students.”

The eighth and ninth-grade students collected more than fifty toys, which will be donated to the United Way. Alongside these donations, over 150 children who didn’t meet Angel Tree age requirements will be be given gifts for Christmas, according to United Way’s Ruby Green.

“We are deeply thankful to everyone who helped make Christmas special for the children in our community. Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to Warren Central Junior High, the Vicksburg Fire Department, and all the generous donors who contributed to this cause,” said Green. “Because of your kindness, over 150 children who didn’t meet the Angel Tree age requirements — many coming from CPS — were able to experience the joy of the season with gifts and love. Your compassion makes our community brighter, and your generosity truly changes lives.”
