Warren Central’s baseball season ends in North State Championship loss to Saltillo

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The 2025 baseball season came to a close for Warren Central on Wednesday night, as the Vikings fell 7-0 to Saltillo on the road in game two of the North State Championship series. The loss eliminated WC from the playoffs, ending their hopes of advancing to the state title series.
Facing elimination, the Vikings were unable to get the offense going against a dominant Saltillo pitching performance. Ryan Steed and Maddox Lynch were the only two Warren Central players to record hits in the shutout. On the mound, Caden Cole struck out three batters, while Lynch added four strikeouts.
Game one of the series took place on Monday, with Saltillo taking a 6-4 win. Warren Central showed more offensive life in that matchup, with Trace Hood, Tristan Jamison (who also drove in two runs), Jacob Kealhofer, Cole, and Steed each collecting hits. On the pitching side, Beau tallied two strikeouts, and Greer, Jamison, and Steed all saw time on the mound.
While the season ended in disappointment, the Vikings still had much to be proud of. Under the leadership of Head Coach Randy Broome, they finished with an impressive 20-11 record and made their second straight appearance in the North State Championship series.
Looking ahead to next season, Warren Central is expected to return the majority of its roster. However, they will say goodbye to four seniors: Hayes Loper, Maddox Lynch, Lester Martin, and Hayden Blok—each of whom made valuable contributions to their team.
