WARREN COUNTY, Miss. (VDN) — The father who shot his son in the leg has been identified and charged, according to Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace.

50-year-old Christopher Franklin Emfinger of Warren County, was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic violence for shooting his 23-year-old son in the leg during an argument last evening.

According to Sheriff Pace, just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, Warren County Sheriff’s Office received a call to the 13000 block of Highway 61N in the Floweree Community between Redwood and the Isaquena County line regarding a shooting.

When units arrived on the scene, deputies discovered that a 23-year-old had been transported by private vehicle to River Region. Another deputy met the victim at the hospital and confirmed that he had received a gun shot wound to the leg. After arriving at River Region, the victim was then transferred to UMMC. River Region does not have a trauma center.

Emfinger had his initial appearance before Judge James Jefferson today, where his bail was set at $10,000. His case will be reviewed by the next Grand Jury.

Sheriff Pace added that the charge of aggravated domestic violence was due to the parent/child relationship and them sharing the same address.
