Warren County reports fourth COVID-19 death and two new cases Friday

The Mississippi State Department of Health reports the fourth COVID-19 death in Warren County Friday. The person who died was another resident in a long-term care facility. With two new cases reported, the total number of cases in the county now stands at 129. The county has 33 cases in one long-term care facility under investigation, an increase of 17 cases.

Statewide, MSDH reports another big spike in new COVID-19 cases Friday. The 318 new cases bring the total cumulative confirmed cases in Mississippi to 10,801.

MSDH also reports 13 additional Mississippians died of COVID-19. bringing the number of deaths in the state to 493. Two of the deaths were from May 4 and 5 and were identified through death certificate reports.

Deaths and new cases were reported as of 6 p.m. Thursday, May 14. MSDH reports new statistics on the COVID-19 coronavirus each morning based on the previous day’s testing and death reports.

MSDH is also reporting the number of estimated COVID-19 cases presumed recovered in Mississippi. That number is 6,268 through May 3, the agency reported Monday, May 11. This figure will be updated weekly.
