WC defeats St. Andrews; PCA falls short to Tallulah Academy

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A win over St. Andrew’s on Monday improved the Warren Central High School baseball team’s record to 14-9. The Vikings defeated the Saints 6-2 and have now won their last three games. They are scheduled to play again tonight.

Jacob Kealhofer got Warren Central on the board first in the second inning, scoring on an error. Ryan Steed and Caden Cole extended the lead to 3-0 with hits in the fourth inning. St. Andrew’s responded with two runs in the fifth to cut the deficit to 3-2.

After Cole and Blake Caruthers hit singles in the sixth, Hayes Loper delivered a three-run double to make it 6-2. Maddox Lynch pitched a complete game, striking out eight batters, including several in the seventh to seal the win.

The Vikings will travel across town tonight to face Vicksburg High School at 7 p.m.


Porter’s Chapel Academy

Porter’s Chapel Academy suffered a 14-4 loss to Tallulah Academy on Monday night.

Clayton McClure went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Chad Fuson hit a single and Evan Gordan doubled. Gordan scored two runs, while Conley Johnston and Fuson each scored one. Fuson struck out five batters, and Coltin Hancock added two strikeouts.

For Tallulah Academy, JT McDaniel had a perfect night at the plate, going 4-for-4 with three RBIs. He also hit a double and a triple. Tripp Gayle (two RBIs) and Luke Moberley had two hits apiece, while Denton Ray (one RBI), Charlie Vinning (two RBIs), and Courtland Collins each had one hit.

McDaniel struck out eight batters, and Gayle struck out six.

Both teams are scheduled to play again today at Tallulah Academy.
