Warren Central High School’s ninth-grade baseball team achieved back-to-back victories against Northwest Rankin on Monday.

In the first game of the night, the Vikings secured a 3-1 win. Justin Greer kickstarted the scoring with an RBI, followed by Logan Evans crossing the plate on a passed ball to give Warren Central a 2-0 lead before the end of the first inning.

T. Antwine’s double in the third inning added another run to WC’s tally, sealing their victory. Fabian Davenport also contributed with a crucial double later in the game. Davenport, Blake Caruthers, Tristan Jamison, and Antwine each recorded a hit. Jamison pitched an outstanding game, allowing only one hit while striking out six batters.

Moving on to the second game, WC rallied for a thrilling 6-5 comeback victory. Despite the Cougars taking an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, the Vikings fought back. Jamison’s double and Antwine’s sacrifice brought WC
within striking distance at 3-2. Although WC found themselves trailing 4-2 in the fourth inning, Jamison’s clutch double and subsequent run following an error leveled the score. The Cougars added another run in the
fifth, but WC reclaimed the lead thanks to Caden Cole’s single that drove in a run, and Jamison’s decisive triple that brought in two more runs.

Jamison shone with a perfect 3-for-3 at-bat, delivering three RBls, while Cole added a crucial hit. Antwine’s pitching prowess was on display as he struck out four batters to secure the win.

The freshmen team will hit the road to face off against Clinton on Thursday.
