WCJHS earned a 8-6 win in their season opener on Tuesday
Warren Central Junior High School secured an 8-6 victory against Northwest Rankin in their season opener, with Mickey Grayer scoring the decisive touchdown and conversion. The Vikings’ defense was key in limiting both teams’ scoring.

Warren Central Junior High School opened its season with a close 8-6 win over Northwest Rankin on Tuesday.
The Vikings improved to 1-0 under head coach Louis Green after battling the Cougars in a defensive contest.
Mickey Grayer provided all of Warren Central’s scoring. Grayer broke free for a 30-yard touchdown run and followed with the 2-point conversion that proved to be the difference in the game.
Defense played a major role in Tuesday’s victory as both teams were held to single digits. Jace Pugh and Cor’Darius Miles each recovered a fumble for the Vikings.
Warren Central Junior High will host Madison Central next Tuesday.
Vicksburg High School’s ninth-grade team fell just short against Pearl, losing 14-12.
Mike Davis scored both touchdowns for Vicksburg in the loss.
Warren Central’s ninth-grade team also suffered a close loss to Pearl, falling 21-14.
Michael Banks Jr. caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Jaydon Green for Warren Central. Richard Albert Jr. returned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown, while Andrew Patten Jr. scored on a 2-point conversion.
