We love you, Malcolm Butler

Malcolm, Vicksburg loves you, and you’ll always be our hometown hero.
Negativity is being thrown your way because people love to knock people down. It makes them feel better about themselves. We all fall short sometimes; not everything you see is true.
Malcolm, despite the negativity on social media, your hometown remains beside you. We remember you, we see you.
We will always remember the Malcolm Butler we know—the one who donated bicycles to kids in our community, the man who donated tens of thousands of dollars to feed the elderly (over 600) during the COVID-19 pandemic in both Vicksburg and Nashville and the thousands of kids who participate in the free football camp that you host every year in Vicksburg.
The Malcolm we see is the one who went from working at Popeyes to catching the game-winning interception in the Super Bowl, one of the greatest moments in sports. They could hear us cheering for you from New England to Seattle. We tell everyone, “He’s from Vicksburg!”
You’re a champion, so you are probably tougher on yourself than anyone else could be. But remember this: You’ve accomplished more in one day than some would in a lifetime. This is nothing, just a bump on your long journey of success.
Most people who make it big forget about their hometown. You made it a point to keep Vicksburg’s name alive, have given back so much, and have made us proud. You’ll forever be our hometown hero.
Malcolm, we love you, and we’re behind you.
