Warren County, Miss.(VDN) — A suspect wanted in connection with a double shooting in Yazoo City was taken into custody Sunday morning by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office after he made his way into Warren County.

According to authorities, the shooting occurred earlier Sunday in Yazoo City. The suspect then fled the scene, and drove on U.S. Highway 61 toward Warren County. Law enforcement was quickly alerted that the suspect may be entering the area.

Warren County Deputy Joseph Stubbs spotted the suspect’s vehicle near the intersection of North Washington Street and Hudson. The suspect was then safely apprehended by Stubbs, along with deputies T’Onna Sims and Patrick Brown, and Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace.

The Vicksburg Police Department assisted with the arrest by closing off portions of North Washington Street to ensure public safety and prevent interference with the scene.

Sheriff Pace confirmed that firearms were recovered during the arrest. The suspect was transferred back into the custody of the Yazoo City Police Department, where he is expected to face multiple charges related to the earlier shooting. Authorities stated that the suspect does not face any charges in Warren County at this time.
