Lady Vikes opened district play with a shutout win over Ridgeland

Warren Central High School softball team opened district play with a 13-0 win over Ridgeland on Wednesday.

The Lady Vikes popped things off with a double from Sarah Cameron Fancher that brought in the first run and an RBI from Maddy Pant. MK Ferguson helped WC go up 3-0 in the second inning after an RBI.

The Lady Vikes added seven more runs in the third after hits from Jenn Smith, McKay, Kamryn Morson, Adalyn Anderson and Tyra Bridges. Pant, McKay and Morson all got WC on the board in the fifth as they took home the win.

Fancher went 2 for 3 with one RBI at the plate. Smith also went 2 for 4(2 RBIs) and McKay also went 2 for 3(2 RBIs). Bridges(1 RBI), Anderson(1 RBI), Morson(1 RBI) and Pant(2 RBIs) all had one hit.

Pant struck out six batters in the win and WC will travel on Friday to play in the South Panola Tournament.
