VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg native Payton Feagin is continuing her cheerleading journey at the University of South Alabama after a standout two years at Northwest Mississippi Community College.

Feagin, a 2022 graduate of Warren Central High School, was part of Northwest’s prestigious cheer program, where she helped lead the team to two national championships in the traditional division. Her time at NWCC was marked by dedication, athleticism, and success on the national stage.

Earlier this year, Feagin not only added another national title to her résumé, but she also had the unique opportunity to share the moment with her close friend and former high school teammate, Anna Richards, who cheered for Pearl River Community College. The shared success made the experience even more meaningful.

Cheerleading has long been a part of Feagin’s life. She got her start under the guidance of her mother, Cameron Coon, who serves as the head cheer coach at Warren Central.

“Though we had our back-and-forths during coaching sessions, she has always been my biggest supporter and cheerleader,” Feagin said during her high school signing day.

Feagin now moves on to the University of South Alabama, where she will continue to cheer at the collegiate level while pursuing a degree in philosophy.

She is the daughter of Cameron and Brian Coon, and Travis and Katrina Feagin. With a strong support system and years of experience behind her, Feagin looks ahead to the next chapter in her academic and athletic career.
