VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Mayor Willis Thompson has been appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Municipal League (MML), the statewide association representing Mississippi’s 297 municipalities.

The Board of Directors provides leadership and guidance for MML’s mission of strengthening municipalities through advocacy, training, and collaboration. As a board member, Mayor Thompson will help shape policies and programs that impact cities and towns all across Mississippi.

“It’s an honor to be asked to serve on the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Municipal League,” Mayor Thompson said. “This is an opportunity not only to share Vicksburg’s story at the state level but also to bring home ideas and resources that will help us build a stronger future for our city. I look forward to working with my fellow municipal leaders from across Mississippi to advance the issues that matter most to our communities.”

The Mississippi Municipal League, founded in 1931, is the official statewide organization of cities, towns, and villages in Mississippi. Through training, advocacy, and networking, MML equips municipal officials with the tools they need to serve their citizens effectively.
