Vicksburg man charged with Aggravated Assault after weekend stabbing
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A Vicksburg man has been charged with aggravated assault after a weekend stabbing incident.
On Saturday, Oct. 11, at approximately 10:48 p.m., officers with the Vicksburg Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Washington Street in Vicksburg in reference to a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers determined Charles Coleman was injured with multiple stab wounds. Jonathan Ramphrey was identified as the suspect and arrested on scene.
Coleman was transported to University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he was treated and later released.
On Monday, Oct. 13, Ramphrey appeared before Judge Angela Carpenter at his
initial appearance and bond was set at $50,000.

One person was stabbed after a brief altercation downtown.
Saturday night, just before 11 p.m., an altercation on the Crawford Street Landing led to a man being stabbed in the upper left chest. The man’s wounds do not appear to be life threatening.
A male was taken into custody related to the event. The man has been seen staying in that area for the past three weeks or so.
This appears to be an isolated incident between those two individuals. It is unclear at this point what actually led to the confrontation.
