Gleese led St. Aloysius to a win over Manchester; WC took a loss to Lanier

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Carson Gleese led the St. Aloysius boys’ basketball team to a 47-39 victory over Manchester Academy on Monday night, highlighting a strong performance across local hoops action. Meanwhile, Warren Central’s boys’ team suffered an 83-62 home loss to Lanier despite notable efforts from key players.

Gleese powered the Flashes with a dominant 26-point, 13-rebound(double-double) outing. Walt Andrews added six points and seven rebounds, while Carson Henderson scored four points. Cole Nolan and Tre Lee chipped in three points each. Carter Henderson finished with two points and five rebounds, while Carter Henderson and Garrod Bunch each scored two points. Alan Stauts rounded out the scoring with one point.

In the girls’ matchup, St. Aloysius fell 38-33 to Manchester. Taryn Lusby led the Lady Flashes with 13 points and seven rebounds. Megan Theriot contributed four points and eight rebounds, and Elle Larson added four points and five rebounds. Mallory Hobson scored three points and pulled down six rebounds. Pressley Carr also scored three, while Farrell Roberson had two points and five rebounds. Kelci Bingham and Kennadi Blassingham each added two points.

At Warren Central, Deric Gibbs posted 28 points and eight rebounds in the Vikings’ loss to Lanier. Davon O’Neal followed with 22 points and eight assists. Avery Williams scored six points, Jordan Pugh finished with three, Jaylen DeFrance added two and Landon Burks had one point.
