Warren Central girls place third at JPS Christmas powerlifting meet

JACKSON, Miss. (VDN) — The Warren Central High School girls powerlifting team earned a third-place finish at the JPS Christmas Invitational Meet, continuing to show steady growth and competitiveness under head coach Destinee King.

Warren Central posted an overall team score of 29 points, good for third place in the multi-team meet that featured several strong programs from across the region. In addition to the team’s podium finish, seven Lady Vikings placed in the top three of their respective weight classes, earning medals for their performances.

Genesis Stewart led the way with a first-place finish in her weight class, while Jordan Smith and Zhae Jackson each claimed second place. Charli Stauts, Kalyn Jones, Dorothy Welborn and Joniya Scroggins rounded out the medal winners with third-place finishes in their divisions.

The strong showing highlighted the athletes’ dedication in the weight room and their ability to perform under pressure in a competitive environment.

With a solid team score and multiple individual medalists, Warren Central continues to build momentum and establish itself as a program to watch as the powerlifting season progresses.
