Port Gibson defeats Amite County 34-19 in high-scoring softball game
PORT GIBSON, Miss.(VDN) — The Port Gibson High School softball team earned a 34-19 victory over Amite County in a high-scoring contest in which both teams produced runs in all three innings. The Blue Waves pulled away in the final frame, outscoring Amite County 15-8 to secure the win.
Port Gibson finished with 15 hits in the victory.
Destiny Neal led the Blue Waves at the plate, hitting a two-run home run and going 3 for 3 with three RBIs. Za’Riyah Hicks also went 3 for 3 with an RBI.
Ariana Claiborne drove in four runs while collecting two hits. Joslyn Jones added two hits and three RBIs, and Maghan Rankin recorded two hits with one RBI. Jaliyah Stovall hit a triple and finished with three RBIs. Amoire Hicks added a hit and two RBIs, while Tamia Craig had a hit and one RBI.
Neal also earned the win in the circle, striking out six batters for Port Gibson.
