“I’m really excited because sports in college is something that I always wanted to do and now I have the opportunity,” Henderson said.

Henderson starred at quarterback for the Lady Vikes where she helped lead the program to an undefeated regular season and a state tournament appearance during the inaugural season of girls’ flag football.

“That felt good even though we had our ups and downs to get there it still turned out great and I’m just proud to be part of the program,” she added.

One of Henderson’s favorite memories from the season came in a rainy victory over North Panola. Throughout the year, she delivered standout performances while leading the Lady Vikes on the field. Henderson threw four touchdown passes and rushed for 10 more scores during the season.

One of her top performances came against Greenville when she accounted for three total touchdowns.

Henderson played under head coach Brad Nolan and assistant head coach Ced Jackson as the Lady Vikes quickly became one of the most exciting new programs in the state.

She said Millsaps College began recruiting her early in the season, which made her college decision easier. Henderson chose Millsaps over an offer from Mississippi Valley State University. She will now play under head coach Felicia Ellis.

Before joining the flag football team, Henderson competed in basketball, volleyball and track and field at Warren Central. She was also named the school’s Female Athlete of the Year.

Henderson plans to major in kinesiology. She is the daughter of Eugena Henderson and Shon Henderson.

“I want to thank my friends, family, coaches, teachers and everyone who stuck with me over the years,” she said.
