Ernest William McLellan, IV, age 69, passed away on August 24, 2026. A dedicated educator and coach, he graduated from the University of Mississippi and retired in 2025. He is survived by his wife and stepdaughters.

Ernest “Ernie” William McLellan, IV passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026. He was 69 years old.
Ernie was born on August 25, 1956, in San Diego, California. He graduated from Oxford High School in Oxford, MS. Ernie graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education in 1979. In 2000 he received his Master of Science from the University of Memphis. Ernie retired in 2025 after 47 years in education and coaching. Ernie loved anything sports especially the Alabama Crimson Tide. He also enjoyed the “Jeep” life and his beloved dogs. Ernie is preceded in death by his parents Ernest William McLellan, III and Peggy Louise Tomlin McLellan, a son Ernest William McLellan, V, and a brother Charlie McLellan.
Ernie is survived by the love of his life Tonda Truelock McLellan, stepdaughters Alecia Mathis, Shelby Alred, and Courtney Clayton; and his nieces Kate Victor, Kim Patterson, Shelby Flores, and Ashley Gutierrez.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
