Roosevelt Sonny Jones, Jr., age 74, was born in Valley Park, Mississippi, to Roosevelt and John Ella Jones, Sr. On August 24, Sonny peacefully transitioned from this life, surrounded by the love and presence of family and friends.
Remembering Roosevelt Sonny Jones Jr
Sonny retired from Waring Oil after fifteen years of dedicated and faithful service. A gifted mechanic, he possessed an extraordinary love for cars—an interest that followed him throughout his life and became one of his most cherished passions.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and John Ella Jones; his brothers, Albert Jones and Curtis Jones; his son, Allen Lee Jones; grandchildren, Kalvin Rashad Jones and Jennifer Renee Jones; niece, Beverly Jones; and nephew, Aveon Jones.
Family and Legacy
Sonny leaves to honor and cherish his memory his devoted wife of 53 years, Laura Jones; his children, Bessie Jones, Mary Jones Baker (Samuel), Ella Jones Blackmore (Larry), Roosevelt Jones III, and Sharon Jones Stewart (Shannon). He also leaves his siblings Calvin Jones (Sharice), Mary Helen Jones, Barbara Dean Jones (Emmerson), Timothy Jones (Melinda), Chuckey Jones, Patricia Jones Williams, Jackie Jones, Kassandra Jones Davis (Michael), and Michael Jones (Felicia).
Sonny’s life was marked by quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and a deep love for his family. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
