18-year-old sentenced for 2024 shooting
An 18-year-old from Vicksburg has been sentenced to 20 years for his role in a 2024 shooting on Elizabeth Circle. Jeremiah Jackson will serve eight years in prison following his guilty plea and prior arrests.

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —
An 18-year-old has been sentenced in connection with a 2024 shooting.
Judge James Chaney sentenced Jeremiah Jackson to 20 years, with eight years to serve. Jackson will also receive credit for time served after being held in the Warren County Jail since early this past spring.
Assistant District Attorney Branan Southerland represented the state, while Jackson was represented by defense attorney Penny Lawson.
The case stems from an incident on Elizabeth Circle, where court testimony indicated Jackson was one of three men who chased and fired shots at another person. The incident was also captured on surveillance footage.
During the sentencing hearing, Southerland said Jackson was arrested in connection with another shooting in Claiborne County while he was out on bond in the Warren County case.
Jackson pleaded guilty in the case, and Southerland recommended that he serve eight years of the 20-year sentence.
