In a press release, Mayor George Flaggs, Jr said:

On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, Mayor Flaggs, Jr. will recommend to the Board of Mayor and Alderman the appointment of Attorney Lee Davis Thames, Jr., as Interim City attorney on the recommendation of the current city attorney, Kimberly Walker Nailor. The city also plans to extend the contract for Attorney Stephen McMillan as a prosecutor until a permanent appointment can be made.

Attorney Thames brings a wealth of experience and legal expertise to this role, having served as the city attorney from 2010-2013. We are confident that Attorney Thames’ leadership and expertise will serve the city of Vicksburg well during his tenure as Interim City Attorney. We look forward to working closely with him to ensure that our city continues to thrive.

It is with mixed emotions that I announce the retirement of Mrs. Jacqueline Walker effective June 30, 2024. Ms. Walker has served as secretary for the office of the Mayor since April 2011. Her contributions have been invaluable to our team and the community we serve. We extend our deepest gratitude for her years of service and wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.

In May 2024,  Ms. Kristen Harris will be appointed Chief of Staff for the Office of the Mayor and Ms. Cynthia Skinner-Hobson will be appointed Administrative Assistant to Mayor George Flaggs Jr; both are current employees of the city of Vicksburg. With their extensive experience and dedication to our city,  I’m confident they will excel in these roles, providing strong leadership and strategic guidance to our team.

Please join us in welcoming these employees to their new roles in our city. We are confident that each of them will provide the most effective service to our city with the least cost to the taxpayers.
