VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN)—Deputy Dusty Keyes of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office has been named Officer of the Year by the Kiwanis Club. The recognition was announced in a recent Facebook post shared by the Sheriff’s Office, which featured Keyes and praised his dedication to law enforcement.

“Thank you Kiwanis for recognizing Investigator Dustin Keyes as Officer of the Year,” the post read.

Keyes, a Saint Aloysius High School graduate, felt a calling to serve his community following the tragic events of September 11, 2001. That motivation eventually led him to a career in law enforcement. After completing his education at Hinds Community College, Keyes returned to his hometown of Vicksburg and joined the Warren County Sheriff’s Office in 2014.

In 2016, Keyes began a special chapter in his career when he formed a partnership with Heidi, a black Labrador retriever that he personally trained. At just 18 months old, Heidi was donated by Keyes to the department and has since served as a dedicated K-9 officer. Together, the duo has played a crucial role in narcotics recovery efforts across the county.
