Donald Eugene Busby: 1948-2025
VICKSBURG, Miss. — Donald Eugene Busby, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, at the age of 76.
Born on December 14, 1948, Don graduated from Provine High School in 1966 and Hinds Community College before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy. During his time stationed in Charleston, South Carolina, as a young newlywed, he began building a life centered around faith, family, and service. After his military service, Don continued his education at Mississippi College.
He married his high school sweetheart, Patsy Griffith, and together they shared 56 beautiful years of marriage. Their love and devotion were an example to all who knew them.
Don dedicated over 45 years to the auto parts industry in Vicksburg, where he was known not only for his exceptional customer service but also for his warm spirit—especially by the children who delighted in the candy stash he kept behind the counter just for them. He approached his work as another avenue to serve others, a value he lived by daily.
A faithful member of Crossway Church in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Don’s life was a testimony of kindness, humility, and unwavering faith. Outside of work, he found his greatest joy in his family. He rarely missed a game, match, or event, always cheering on his children and grandchildren from the sidelines. His happiest days were spent with a house full of family, especially during the cherished annual trips to the beach.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Griffith Busby of Vicksburg; his children, Jennifer (Bobby) Van Norman of Brandon, Chris (Mitzi) Busby of Vicksburg, Jon (Tiffany) Busby of Vicksburg, and Michael (Bailee) Busby of Vicksburg. He also leaves behind his 15 adored grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
A memorial service celebrating Don’s life will be held at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue in Vicksburg on Wednesday, June 25 at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at 3:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life lived with purpose, love, and grace.
