Dr. Johnnie Lee Foster: 1971-2025

Texas City, TX — With profound sorrow and deep love, we announce the passing of Dr. Johnnie Lee Foster, who departed this life on April 27, 2025. Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on December 10, 1971, to the late William and Frankie Foster, Johnnie lived a life marked by humility, dedication, and quiet strength.
Johnnie accepted Christ at a very young age. He was a gifted artist, with his work proudly displayed in several art galleries. A proud graduate and Valedictorian of Vicksburg High School’s Class of 1990, Johnnie went on to attend Mississippi State University on a full academic scholarship. Johnnie earned his Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. He later obtained a Master’s degree in Computer and Information Science and, guided by a deep and abiding faith, achieved a Doctorate in Divinity—an accomplishment that spoke to both his intellect and his spiritual devotion.
Throughout his life, Johnnie contributed his talents to organizations such as Entergy Mississippi and the Mississippi Department of Transportation, while also pursuing various entrepreneurial ventures. His quiet, gentle spirit reflected a mind deeply devoted to the worlds of technology, theology, and a life of humble service. He was a member of the House of Peace Worship Church in Vicksburg, MS.
A man who never sought the spotlight, Johnnie found joy in life’s quieter pleasures. He was an exceptional cook—skills lovingly passed down by his parents—and he took pride in preparing meals that brought his family together, especially during the holidays. He had a passion for computer mainframes and software development, and he approached every endeavor with patience and purpose.
Dr. Foster was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Melvina Foster; maternal grandparents, Jonah and Lula Ross; his parents, William and Frankie Foster; a brother, William Ford; and a sister, Linda Ford.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beautiful family, his wife of thirty years, Andrea Foster of League City, Texas; and their three daughters: Alicia Foster of Jackson, MS; Jasmine Foster and Bria Foster, both of League City, TX. He is also survived by three brothers: Larry (Charlene) Ross, Charles (Sonya) Ross, and Dr. Billy (Cathy) Foster—all of Vicksburg, MS; and one sister, Linda (Thomas) Clark of Vicksburg, MS. He is fondly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and an aunt, as well as the Foster, Ross, Rader, and Bailey families, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Johnnie’s life was a testament to quiet dignity, strong faith, and enduring love. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
Visitation will be held at Bay Area Funeral Directors in Texas City, TX Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 10 a.m. and the service will begin at 11 a.m.
