Marjorie “Margie” Cain Bufkin: 1945-2025

PORT GIBSON, Miss. — Marjorie “Margie” Cain Bufkin, 79, passed away peacefully at her home on May 7, 2025.

Margie was born on July 5, 1945, to Edgar and Ottilie Cain. A lifelong resident of Port Gibson, she married Billy Ray Bufkin on June 28, 1963, and together they shared 47 years of love and devotion until his passing.

A devoted wife, mother, and Memaw, Margie’s life was defined by her deep commitment to her family. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and spent the last 37 years as a dedicated employee of the Port Gibson Reveille.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Bufkin, and her parents, Edgar and Ottilie Cain.

She is survived by her children: Tony Bufkin (Lori), Richard Bufkin (Angie), Mickey Bufkin (Mary), and Patricia Rollison; grandchildren: Brett Bufkin (Erin), Richie Bufkin (Taylor), Amanda Bufkin, Cassie Warren (Matt), Finley Rollison, Morgan Jones (Dekendrick), Macey Bufkin, and Marley Bufkin; nine great-grandchildren; and her brother, Edgar Cain (Grape). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other beloved relatives, including Janice Bufkin and Jerry Bufkin.

Pallbearers will be Tony Bufkin, Richard Bufkin, Mickey Bufkin, Brett Bufkin, Richie Bufkin, and Matt Warren. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Bufkin, Jamie Cain, Ken Bufkin, Jackie Bufkin, and Ural Bliss Jr.

Margie’s legacy of love and strength will live on in all who knew her. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.

Visitation will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson on Monday, May 12, 2025. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m., followed by graveside service at Hermanville Cemetery. Carlos Dawson will officiate the service.
