Escaped prisoner captured in Vicksburg
An escapee from the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office in Amite, Louisiana was captured in Vicksburg on Monday.
A call was dispatched to all units alerting them the escapee may be in the Vicksburg area.
Taylor Lee Wade, 30, was incarcerated in Amite and but walked away from a Sheriff’s Office work detail there earlier in the day on Monday. Tangipahoa Parish investigators received information stating Wade may have hitchhiked and got a ride in a white F-250. Warren County units were alerted that the vehicle may have made it to the Vicksburg, Warren County area and to be on the lookout for that vehicle.
An F-250 matching that description was immediately spotted in the parking lot of an area hotel on Clay Street by Sheriff Martin Pace, who was passing by the location. Pace, in his unmarked unit, called in the description of the truck to dispatch and confirmed the match. Additionally, an individual near that vehicle matched the description of the escapee.
Sgt. Cordell Watkins with the Sheriff’s Office was dispatched as a backup unit and when he arrived the escapee, Taylor Wade was taken into custody by Pace and Watkins without incident.
Wade was originally incarcerated for 2nd-degree battery. He will now face additional charges for his attempted escape.
