Father Shoots Son During Dispute on Highway 61 North in Warren County

WARREN COUNTY, Miss.(VDN) – A dispute turned violent Tuesday night when a father allegedly shot his son in the leg on U.S. Highway 61 North near South Floweree Road.
According to initial radio traffic, the incident occurred following a disagreement between the father and son. The son was reportedly shot during or shortly after the dispute. Authorities say he was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle. His current condition has not been released.
An AirCare helicopter was reported inbound, but it is unknown at this time if it is for the victim of the shooting. It is not uncommon for AirCare to transport individuals injured in their extremities to a Jackson area hospital for further treatment.
The initial report indicates the father remained at the scene of the shooting and waited for law enforcement. Deputies with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office have responded to the area and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
There is no reason to believe a threat exists to anyone else in the area.
No charges have been announced at this time. This is a developing story, and more details will be released as they become available. The Vicksburg Daily News will provide more information on this story once Warren County Deputies have concluded their initial investigation.
