First time participant wins 46th annual Run Through History

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The 46th annual Run Through History was held on Saturday, March 1, with over 500 participants competing in either the 10k run, 5k walk and 1 mile fun run for the kids.

Jack Kelley, a 17-year-old from West Monroe, finished first overall with a time of 36:16. This was Kelley’s first time participating in the event. Elisabeth Gaillet, from Ridegeland, won the women’s bracket with a time of 45:37, finishing 13th overall.

With a Mardi Gras twist, runners received beads alongside the traditional cannon trophies awarded to the winners. The Chill, a local Vicksburg favorite, performed at the after party held across from the Vicksburg National Military Park.

Next year’s Run Through History is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026.
