Hinds CC announces spring 2026 graduation details
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Hinds Community College will award more than 1,500 degrees and certificates during one of five graduation ceremonies this week, Wednesday-Friday.
Among the graduates, 615 will graduate with honors; 239 students will graduate cum laude, which is a 3.2-3.59 grade point average out of 4.0; 177 will graduate magna cum laude, 3.6-3.99 GPA and 199 will graduate summa cum laude, which is a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Ceremonies are at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 and Thursday, May 14, all four at the Muse Center on the Rankin Campus in Pearl. The last ceremony is at 10 a.m. Friday, May 15 at Boyd Gym on the Utica Campus.
Graduating students will offer the invocation, benediction and speak on behalf of classmates at all five ceremonies.
10 a.m. Wednesday, May 13
Serenity Montgomery of Vicksburg will offer the invocation. She has completed the Respiratory Care Technology program at the Nursing Allied Health Center in Jackson. While at Hinds she participated in Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Her next step is to enter her chosen career.
Representing her classmates with graduation remarks will be NyKyah Kendrick of Jackson. She will receive an Associate Degree in Nursing. She has been active in the Student Nurse Organization, Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Delta Nu honor society. Her next step is the University of Mississippi Medical Center for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and employment.
Offering the benediction will be Jake Wooten of Flowood. He has been attending the Rankin Campus and will earn his Associate Degree in Nursing. He is employed at Baptist Medical Center as a nurse extern in oncology. He has also been accepted into the University of Mississippi Medical Center Advanced Standing Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
2 p.m., Wednesday, May 13
Offering the invocation and benediction will be Katelyn Lewis of Pearl. A Rankin Campus student, she studied early childhood education. She was president of the Student Government Association and a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Her next step is completing her bachelor’s degree at Mississippi State University.
The student speaker will be Kennith Crowley of Clinton. A Raymond Campus student, he was active in band and Hinds Connection. He also served his fellow students as an orientation leader and a note taker for students who needed help. He is transferring to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for a degree in Air Traffic Management.
10 a.m. Thursday, May 14
Giving the invocation and benediction will be Shakera Bell of Brandon. A Rankin Campus student, she has participated in Phi Theta Kappa Honor society, Honors, IDEAL Women and the marching band on the Raymond Campus. She plans to transfer to Belhaven University to major in chemistry with a pre-medicine focus.
Giving the speech on behalf of classmates will be Shakeria Gainwell of Yazoo City. A Raymond Campus student, she has been studying psychology. She plans to transfer to Mississippi State University.
2 p.m. Thursday, May 14
Giving the invocation and benediction will be Samniya Henry of Atlanta. A Raymond Campus student, she has been active as Student Government Association Vice President. She is transferring to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Giving the speech on behalf of classmates will be Campbell McCoy of Vicksburg. A Raymond Campus student, she plans to pursue a Radiologic Sciences degree at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. At Hinds, she has been a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, the Honors program and was a member of Hinds Connection.
10 a.m. Friday, May 15
Brionna Mosley of Pearl will give the invocation and benediction. She has been involved in Hinds cheer on the Utica Campus and was team captain this academic year. She is also involved in the Trio Student Support Group. Her next step is the University of Mississippi Medical Center for the Dental Hygiene program.
Speaking on behalf of classmates will be Jhamia Perry of Madison. She has been very active on the Utica Campus, participating in Trio, Student Government Association, Phi Theta Kappa honor society, the royal court, choir, the STEM-UP program and served as a resident assistant for Housing. She is planning to transfer to Tuskegee to continue her education in Veterinary Medicine.
