Historic Church Hill cemetery restoration to begin this fall

CHURCH HILL, Miss. (VDN) — Restoration work at the historic Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery in Church Hill has been approved and is scheduled to begin this fall, according to Trent Lewis of The Cemetery Doctor LLC.

The project was approved by the church’s Mission Committee and will be completed in phases. Phase one will focus on the cemetery’s northeast section, which runs alongside Highway 553.

“Work will start on this very historic cemetery restoration project sometime late September or early October at the latest,” said Lewis in a statement.

Christ Episcopal Church, located in Jefferson County, is one of Mississippi’s oldest congregations. The cemetery is the final resting place for generations of local families and historic figures.

Lewis thanked the Mission Committee for selecting The Cemetery Doctor LLC to lead the effort.
