According to an eyewitness, a silver or grey vehicle, possibly a Honda four door sedan, opened fire with a fully automatic weapon on the blue sedan while traveling west on I-20 just before the Halls Ferry exit. The suspect vehicle then exited the highway at Halls Ferry and turned north.
A tip from a community member led the VPD to the suspect vehicle and five people were initially arrested, including a parent of one of the suspects. White was not captured in the original arrest. A subsequent manhunt for White ensued near North Frontage and Confederate. Numerous units with the VPD, including command staff, surrounded the wooded area west of Confederate at North Frontage, but White was not found at that time.
