Man Stabbed with Machete in Vicksburg

VICKSBURG, Miss – A man was stabbed with a machete at an area motel in Vicksburg.
Just after 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, a man was stabbed with a machete at the Ridgeland Inn on Warrenton Road. According to multiple sources, the man was transported by a private vehicle to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries. He later transferred to a hospital in Jackson.
Vicksburg Police Chief Penny Jones reported the two individuals were sharing a room at the Ridgeland Inn and had an altercation. The suspect used a machete in the incident and one report states the victim was cut in the face. There is no update on his condition at the time of this report.
Jones went on to state the victim did not give police a statement and that the suspect had left the scene before police arrived at the motel.

There was a shooting near this location in September
On September 30, 2024, the Vicksburg Daily News did a live report on a shooting that took place on the roadway across from the motel. In that incident, a woman was shot in her lower body while walking on Warrenton Road. At least two people are in custody related to that shooting.
At around 1 a.m., the woman was walking near the Ridgeland Inn in the 600 block of Warrenton Road. According to a person who described themselves as a family member, someone they had seen a few minutes earlier at Circle K started shooting at them. The family said there were five or six shots, and then there was another round of six or seven shots.
Three people were taken into custody from the shooting. It is unknown at this point if all three arrests are related to the shooting.
