Several Shot in Vicksburg; Investigation Underway
UPDATE – 4 p.m., June 29 – Vicksburg Police Chief Penny Jones has updated the information from the original report.
According to Chief Jones, at this time, “Only two individuals were injured, treaded and released. More than two vehicles were shot. The shift is still receiving reports from last nights calls. Unfortunately, some parents wouldn’t allow their children to speak. However, we have identified persons of interest. We will follow up after the weekend unless new developments arise beforehand.
The Chief goes on to note, “One victim is a juvenile.”

According to Vicksburg Police Investigator Jerrold Hayes, several people were shot in an incident at City Pavilion.
In a text message, Investigator Hayes said, “The Vicksburg Police Department is currently investigation a shooting that occured some time after 9:00 p.m., followin an event at the City Pavilion, 100 Army Navy Drive. Multiple people were reported to have sustained gunshot wounds from the shooting. Multiple vehicles were also shot into and several spent shell casings were recovered from the scene.
This remains an active investigation and is in its preliminary stage. More information will become available as the investigation continues.
