Kincaid Selected as the new VHS Head Baseball Coach
VICKSBURG, MS – Vicksburg High School has selected Brandon Kincaid as the next Head Baseball Coach. Kincaid was announced as the new coach last night during a team meeting at VHS.
“I want to thank God first and foremost for this opportunity,” Kincaid said. “I’m excited and we have a lot of youth and plenty of young talent that I’m ready to help and develop them for our future. I’m ready to connect with the youth to keep Vicksburg building and growing.”
Kincaid was born in Port Gibson but raised in Chicago where he played baseball. He moved back to Mississippi to play at Jackson State University. Kincaid earned his first coaching job at Yazoo City under Gerald Peyton and Tommy Lott before working a year at Humphrey’s County under Louis James.
In 2019, Kincaid was named Head Coach of Yazoo City High School where the Indians won the district championship once, tied for district once, and came in second once. He was also named District Coach of the Year twice and Yazoo Coach of the Year in his final 2023 season.
In 2023, Kincaid served as an assistant coach at VHS where the Gators made it to the first round of the playoffs.
With plenty of experience, Kincaid is all set and has goals for his team.
“I want them to be better athletes and I want them to go home 1-0 every day,” Kincaid said. “I don’t want them worrying about the state championship right now but making sure that we take the progress and steps to get there so we can put Vicksburg on the map.”
The Gators will be looking for much support this season under their new leadership as their season is set to begin in the upcoming spring.
“We have a very tough schedule ahead but our boys are tough enough to handle it,” he added. “I hope the community comes out and we’re looking for mentors to help show our boy what life is like after baseball.”
